The New York Times, ProPublica, Spiegel Online and Argentina’s La Nacion are joining OpenNewsMozilla announced today on its blog ahead of an official presentation at SXSWreported The Next Web.

"Chile is losing the battle for a free, independent media", writes Guardian's Roy Greenslade quoting an article published by the Santiago Times, the country's leading English-language newspaper. The article highlights the situation in which journalists are facing harassment, assaults and arrests.

The BBC has released proposals to introduce a “faster, simpler and easier complaints system,” writes Press Gazette. The proposed changes include an online corrections page, the appointment of a chief complaints editor and the creation of a guide, explaining to people how to complain.

An article in Business Insider suggests that, according to data from LinkedIn, a greater percentage of jobs were lost in the newspaper business than in any other industry in the US between 2007 and the present.
